This is a traditional cache in a metal ammo box. The cache is located on private property with the owner’s permission to hide it there. Please do not drive down the trail to the cache site, the owner does not want cars beyond the parking area. Parking is at N 44 02.053 W 72 30.461 just off the main dirt road. Please do not block the main trail and do not drive out into the hay fields.
No need for bush whacking at this site. A nice three quarter mile walk on a main trail along side of fields and down into the woods, with two side trails that loop around and join again just below the cache area. Either loop trail will take you to the cache.
The head of loop trail #1 is at N 44 01.789 W 72 30.609. Bears off to the right (west) and goes down over a knoll and swings around to the left (south). Listen to the water spirits talking to you as you pass by a babbling brook along the way. Notice the relic from the past just before you break out into a clearing to a Vermont surprise.
The head of loop trail #2 is further down the main trail to a right fork at N 44 01.702 W 72 30.592 that leads down to, and passes just above the cache area and connects back up with loop trail #1 just below the Vermont surprise. The cache is located in the Vermont surprise.
If you must geocache during hunting season (and I don’t recommend it) make sure you wear the proper attire, as it’s a favorite spot with the hunters.
The cache will not be available during the winter months as there is no parking area for cars and the main trail is used as a snow machine trail from December through March and is very hazardous to walk on. The trail down through the woods is very narrow and the snow mobiler can not see you in time. And of course some of them have to travel with the pedal to the metal.
During the rest of the year bring along a lunch, it’s nice and peaceful down there. Enjoy
