Geocache Description:

Owens Valley and the surround hills have lots of mining history. This monument is dedicated to part of that history.

First of all:

Some simple request from the caretakers (Thank you CKayaks for this) so we can be allowed to continue enjoying this cache:
* Respect that this is on private property. Treat it accordingly.

* Get the answers and/or take a picture and clear the area promptly.

* Do not linger on the property nor on the roadside. As we found out, the dogs get stressed out and they also alert the caretakers needlessly.

Wow! You can drive up to this cache (might want to be careful if you’re in a low clearance vehicle), but come on! Park on the road and walk to it.

To get credit, email me: (To email me, go to my profile and click that then go to “send message”. That is the only way I am going to be able to reply to you because if you do it differently, it will mean that I will have to search for your profile to email you if you were correct or incorrect, and I don’t want to do that.)

1) The name of the Furnace that this monument is partially dedicated to
2) The name of the person who built it
3) Who assumed operations in 1874
4) The landmark number
5) The dedication date
