Geocache Description:

Located on the bluff high above Shell Beach(elevation 717), this cache offers a most spectacular view. The 3.5 terrain rating is due to steep elevation changes. Good hiking shoes are recommended. We placed the cache with our 14 month old in a backpack while our 5 year old was in preschool. Samuel(5) has since made the hike unassisted. Because he's such a great sport he got to place his very own cache on the way up. Grab "Samuel's Adventure" on the way and make it a two-fer.

Route 1
Start at 35 10.474 N / 120 42.472 W. This is a public parking area at the end of El Portal. Begin walk on fire access road that runs parallel to El Portal. The trail is on the left shortly before the road turns into dirt.

Route 2
Start at 35 10.575 N / 120 41.916 W Go straight UP for a less scenic, rockier and much steeper(Terrain 4)hike.

We named the cache "Self Improvement" because, as you'll see, it is located in a great place to spend some time reflecting. Oh yea, the cache is also filled with classics of the self improvement genre. If the supply dwindles we'll re-stock it. We have more!
Oh..One more thing....When logging your find online you must include one positive thing about yourself. We'll start..We are kind and forgiving people, and our son is a great big brother.
