This cache is located on the scenic University of Alaska Southeast main campus in Juneau, which overlooks beautiful Auke Lake. An occasional bear sighting is a reminder that real wilderness still exists and is both visible and accessible from the UAS campus. Nearby forest trails skirt the Mendenhall Glacier on their way to alpine vistas and mountain peaks. On the other side of the campus, are the waters of the famous Inside Passage for those who like to Kayak, fish sail, or just relax by a fire on an isolated beach. From the cache viewpoint you will be able see the view of beautiful Auke Lake and would be a nice spot to take a picture. This being my first cache to hide I have made it pretty easy. The cache is assessable any time day or night, however in the summer there maybe groups using the area. The cache itself is in the woods behind this new building that was just dedicated in the summer of 2003 to two people that gave of themselves to education. The cache is up a ways in the woods. Use the trail to the right of this building. The cache is in a 10X4X7 ammo box and some of the contents when the cache was placed were: Log book with pencils eraser and sharpener to write your find. Disposal camera to take your picture. Indicate the # you took and e-mail me when if you take the last picture.
