Geocache Description:

The cache (1365ft) is located almost on top of Bishop's Peak (1530ft). You won't need your hands but there is no way to push a bike up that mountain either. A 4-year old might be able to hike all the way up if the child is in good shape - just in case you are wondering if you could make it with the entire family.

A real nice dirt/gravel path that is being maintained very well leads from three different trailheads through open space to the top of the hill. Depending on where you start, it will take you anywhere between 40 to 60 minutes (one direction) to the top of the mountain or to the cache location. I have been up there before sunrise this morning, and if there isn't any fog, the view will be spectacular. You will be able to see all the way out to Los Osos and down South towards the Pismo Dunes and Guadalupe.

Trail options (they have different trailheads but will meet up together well before the cache location>

Trailhead 1 2 3
Starting points: N35 18.074

N35 18.266
W120 41.129
N35 17.498
W120 41.373
Street: Highland Dr Patricia Dr W Foothill Blvd
Altitude: (trailhead, diff.) 563ft (802ft) 340ft (1025ft) 243ft (1120ft)
Distance: 1.60mi ~1.80mi 1.22mi
Time: 50min 60min 40min
Remarks: Probably the best starting point since it is a public trail right from the start all the way up to the top of the mountain. No climbing required either and tennis shoes should be fine for somebody that is a good hiker. Light hiking shoes suggested. This is the second best option to hike up the hill, especially on a busy day when there are a lot of people hiking up the mountain and no parking can be found on Highland Dr anymore. Starting at this trailhead supposedly is considered trespassing, though there is a decent size parking lot right off W Foothill Blvd. That's why you can't miss it. The trail is in a good condition and I see many people hiking that path as well. You might need your hands a little bit in the mid section coming up the mountain this way just before you will hit the public and more official trail. I'd suggest light hiking shoes, though most of the poeple go up this way with tennis shoes. I have even seen them in their slippers but don't complain sliding all the time then.

Enjoy and have fun searching the cache! Please place it back at the location where you have found it in the same or better condition and make sure that the next people won't find it too easy either.

Thank you!
