This is a three stage multi cache located along the Pine Management Interpretive Trails close to the Gregg Cabin Recreation Area south of Hinton. Depending on which trails you follow anticipate a hike of 6.5 to 9.5 km to find the cache and return to the starting point at the trail head. For directions to the trailhead and trail information look here.
The cache container is only 15cm square so bring some small items to trade.
The coordinates shown will take you to the first stage containing coordinates and hints for the second leg which will have the same for the cache. The first and second stages are a small Loc&Loc style containers while the cache is slightly larger but similar.
Please take only one of the coordinate/clue sheets. Do not remove the large geocache information sheets.
To exercise your brain as well as your body the location of the second leg and the cache are given in UTM coordinates which you'll have to enter into your GPSr. For information on UTM have a look at A Practical Guide To GPS - UTM or here.
The Gregg Burn area resulted from an 8700 hectare wildfire in 1956 which has since regrown with lodgepole pine. Enjoy a nice hike around this 6km interpretive trail and visit the historic Gregg Cabin built in 1917. Picnic facilities are provided at the trailhead.
Here's a list of all my caches in the Hinton area.
