Here's the deal: Today, Kent Wilborn (the Monte Sano State Park Manager) gave us all the go-ahead to utilize their territory for Geocaching, something which they had apparently been pondering for some time now. Well, it's official - we can now Geocache on their property without fear of being charged with "criminal littering," meaning that our caches placed there will not be considered as trash.
To thank the Park Rangers, I feel as though we should perform a CITO event, and show them what kind of good stewards of land we are. I would like to try to perform this CITO event (weather permitting) on 5/29/04, with everyone interrested in participating meeting up at the Ranger Station atop Monte Sano, in the State Park.
Here's the kicker - the Park Rangers would be happy to supply us with trashbags and twist ties! If we can pull this off, with enough people, we can show these Park Rangers what we are capable of. Let's all get together around 1:00 pm at the Ranger Station, and depart down the trails by 1:30pm in small groups, and see how much trash we can clean up from the trails.
This is one way we can thank Kent, Brian, and all the other Park Rangers for their allowing us to use thier land for Geocaching purposes.
