What a view! There are not many places we've found in East County where you can see downtown and the ocean, and the view of Mission Trails from the top is great!Pick a clear day to make the most of the view. If it's hot (like it is a lot of the time here), bring water. Bust out the hiking boots - no sandals here. If you're a fast hiker, you can clear this one in an hour and a half. If you're slower or like to look around, this will take a couple of hours or more.
Park in the lot next to the campground and walk down Junipero Serra until you come to the first trail that heads up the hill, a hundred yards or so. If you're in doubt, ask the ranger at the campground.
We're rating both the terrain at 3.5 and the difficulty at 3. Fairly sure about the terrain (880 foot elevation change in a little over a mile); not sure about the difficulty. Log your opinions and we'll update the ratings if necessary.
There's a subtle clue "pointing" you in the right direction in plain sight about 8 feet from the cache. Extra credit if you post what the clue is (but be sure to encrypt it).
Good luck!
