Ryssbergen har fått sitt namn efter ryssarnas härjningar
längs svenska ostkusten 1719. Efter ett första misslyckat
försök att inta Nyköping sjövägen
beslöt de att göra en kringgående rörelse
för att inta stan från väster och bränna den.
Det lyckades de också med eftersom motståndet var
svagt.
Dagens Ryssberg är mest känt för sin skidbacke
som fortfarande växer på höjden med hjälp av
byggmassor som transporteras dit. När du besökt
gömman så tag dig upp till toppen för att
skåda ut över stadens omgivningar och andra
anläggningar som skidstugan, lägerboende, golfbana
mm.
The Russian Mountains has got its name from the time when the
Russians ravaged along the Swedish East-coast in year 1719. They
decided, after a first un-succesful attempt to capture the town
Nyköping, to outflanking the town and burn it down. They
succeded as the resistance was weak.
The recent Russian Mountains is commonly known as the
ski-centre. The slope is still gowing due to the masses transported
to the top. When you have vistied the cache go to the top of the
ski slope and watch the surroundings of the town as well as the
nearby facilities as ski hut, lodging-house, golf course
etc.
