Ganondagan South Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sapience Trek: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Located at the southern part of the Ganondagan State Park along a well marked and maintained trail next to Great Brook.

This is a great trail along the Great Brook in Ganondagan State Park. The Victor Hiking Trails, Inc. group (visit link) has marked the trail with red trail markers and there are places to sit along the way. There are several well marked parking areas if you are doing a large hike but if you want something closer to this particular trail then try N42 57.625 W077 25.510. It is a 100 yards down a little dirt driveway south off Boughton Hill Rd (CR 41), just west of School Rd. You can see the tops of a couple of metal barns from the road. There is a sign on one saying not to block the door and the trail head is very clearly marked. For more trail details visit the Victor Hiking Trails web site.

Follow the trail markers and check out the view of the brook along the way. We saw a fox running on the other side of brook and deer tracks along the trail we were on. There are places where the trail runs along “The Apple Farm” property and if you kept going past the end you would surely end up on the “Victor Christmas Tree Farm”.

Since the cache was originaly placed thee trail has been extended over a beautiful bridge and into "coyote" territory. From there it heads up to The Apple Farm which provides an alternate approach.

On 2/19/2008 we replaced to cache box and moved it to slightly higher ground to keep it a little dry and to keep it further from the poison ivy.
