Geocache Description:

Please check the June 29th, 2010 log for additional information...comments welcome, please.

This is another one in a series of Geocaches dedicated to Historical Statues in Schuylkill County. Dedicated to the 513 Port Carbon Borough soldiers who served in the four year war of America. This small borough is linked to the Civil War not only for sending almost one-quarter of its citizenry onto the battlefield, but also for the Allison family which lost four of its sons---Alexander, John, George, and James in battle. The statue, clad in gold leaf is perched on a bronze metal base painted white on top of what was once called Goat Hill. The cache container is a 3 1/2" x 6" cylindrical container with a screw on lid having a approx. 2" opening........so keep this in mind when thinking about trading goodies. There is a pencil in the cache but bring one along just in case.
