The Fish Hatchery is open to the public but not the old white farmhouse on the property, as this is the residence of the Hatchery manager. The old white home was once an inn and stagecoach stop and was the home of Joseph Hamer, brother of the men who operated Hamer’s Mill at Spring Mill State Park near Mitchell. This Hamer also operated a mill on the hatchery grounds. The mill is no longer standing. There is some mild elevation and the leaves can be damp making the path slippery in a few spots. But actually a nice little walk in the woods. Enjoy!
