This is a Green River theme cache containing a collection of whale, dolphin, shark, and tropical fish figures. Any trade items are acceptable but water creature related items would be appreciated.
I discovered this spot while looking for one of the many nearby BuffyAndFamily caches and wanted to put something here before someone else claimed it. Unlike most of the nearby caches this one is not in a particularly good spot for bringing dogs or children, unless they can navigate difficult trails or don’t mind climbing over lots of fallen trees. The cache can be reached by either a short hike on a fairly difficult trail or a considerably longer hike on a nicer trail. There is plenty of parking available at both locations. I took the shorter more difficult trail from the Green River Rearing Ponds at N 47 19.390, W 121 54.338 when I planted the cache. From here you will have about a quarter mile hike along a narrow trail that runs along a fairly steep bank. This trail gets close to the River at times and may not be passable if the water is very high.The longer easier trail starts at N 47 19.453, W 121 54.731. I estimate it is slightly under a mile to the cache from this spot. I only walked along the river until it intersected the trail I took to the River Bend cache so I’m not sure of the distance. The section of trail I walked along this part of the river was wide and flat but had a lot of fallen trees laying on it; however the stretch from the parking area to the river was easy when I found the River Bend cache earlier this month.The cache is a 1-gallon Rubbermaid container in a plastic bag about 20 feet from the trail.
