PacifiQuest Comes to Texas Event Cache

alchemist2000: Thanks to everyone who helped extend some Texas hospitality to Jamie as he made his trek from Memphis to Los Angeles. It was great fun, both to hear Jamie's stories and to see some area geocachers!

It looks like all of the travel bugs have now been logged, so I am going to go ahead and archive this event. Thanks again everyone!

Geocache Description:

This is a dinner event tentatively scheduled for 6 pm Saturday night, May 8.



This is a dinner get-together (Tex-Mex and your choice of beverage) for fun and camaraderie among local cachers. It will also be a chance to meet Memphis geocacher Jamie Z. Jamie, a longtime cacher and frequent contributor to the geocaching.com forums, is passing through Denton on his cross country bike trip, PacifQuest, from Memphis to Los Angeles. He will then be on his way to China as part of the support crew for an attempt by ultramarathon swimmer Martin Strel to swim the Yangtze River.

Please note that the date (now scheduled for Saturday, May 8) might be moved to Sunday night, May 9, depending upon the progress of Jamie's bike trip. He should be able to better estimate his arrival in Denton several days prior to May 8. Check back here for possible changes or check the PacifQuest page, which we are maintaining for Jamie, to see his progress.

UPDATE MAY 7 -- Everything is still a go for 6 p.m. Saturday night, May 8. See the log entries for details.

Please leave a note if you plan to attend so that we can better estimate the number to expect. Also note the number of children. We will try to have some special activities for them. We suspect the restaurant will be relatively crowded. Saturday is commencement at UNT and nearly everything in Denton is booked, so we felt fortunate to snag some space at this place, which is right on Jamie's route.
