A Rolling Boulder Gathers No Moss Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Major Catastrophe: With fuel for my truck at $3.30/gallon (and everyone else's likewise) I think this cache is too remote. The sparse logs convince me also. Thanks to everyone who searched, and congrats to those who found this rolling stone. A real tribute to milsurplus ammo cans, as this cache spend two years in the woods, much of it under snow, and the logbook is still dry. This ammo can will probably reappear in another guise, nearer to civilization.

Geocache Description:

A Catastrophic Cache!

As my first cache, this is a pretty easy, straightforward hide. Several miles drive from the main highway, but only a short walk from the road. Cache is a .30 cal ammo box.

There are plenty of rocks and boulders around, but the cache shouldn't be too hard to find. It isn't difficult to get to, and it's quite close to the road. Water nearby means keeping a close watch on small children! Clayjar's online rating page suggested a 4 for the terrain, but the hike is so short that I made it a 2.5 and I'm not sure that isn't too high.

There's a small stream here that might produce a nice picture or two, so bring your camera if you're into that sort of thing. Also, keep in mind that this is bear country, so please, please, please, no food or anything that might smell interesting to them.

Initial inventory

  • First Finder's Certificate
  • 12 pc. Precision Screwdriver Set
  • Deck of Iraq playing cards
  • Kids' sunglasses
  • Squirt gun
  • Digital Kitchen Timer
  • Ten-color ballpoint pen
  • Jellybean-shaped container w/ plastic "gems."
  • "You Found It..." sheet
  • Logbook and pen

This may seem like it's far from civilization, but there really are an amazing number of muggles around, especially during the hunting seasons. Please re-hide the cache well after you find it.
