Geocache Description:

This cache is the 3rd of three caches placed in the Jump Creek drainage of Owyhee County, Idaho by the deranged thinking of Captain Sagegrouse and Kompsnoze. The other two caches are Jump Creek Falls and Jump Creek Canyon. This cache was placed by Captain Sagegrouse and Lead Pipe Mover.

The Jump Creek Recreation Area is administered by the Bureau Of Land Management. The upper area is still pristine. Please pack your trash out.The cache can be accessed from two traditional points. The first point would be from Jump Creek Falls near the point of the Jump Creek Falls cache. At this point the cacher would go to the right of the falls and climb up through Devil's Ladder. A fairly easy task if climbing up through a rock shoot is something one likes to do. Hike up the creek to the cache location. Plan on a couple of hours to the cache site. The second access point is to park your vehicle at the upper Jump Creek parking lot and hike on a trail that angles to the right up the hill toward a rock outcropping. Once this elevation plateau is reached hike to the following point along the west canyon rim: N43 28.420/W116 55.991. At this coordinate a trail will take off down into the canyon. Hike to: N43 28.295/W116 55.952. You will be standing on a short "hogback". The best method from this point is to work your way down to the right. However, you can go down either side of the hogback.Walk upstream once on the canyon floor. The trail is unimproved. The stream will be crossed several times. Eventually the stream bed will become solid rock/broken rock with multiple small water falls. You will eventually run into a very large round boulder in the middle of the stream (at least 8 feet tall). There is no need to guess if you have the right boulder - you will know it is a genuine Idaho boulder. Almost immediately on the right side of the creek (going upstream) will be the mysterious Owyhee Face. The face is 36 feet to 40 feet feet in height. It is well above the stream bed. To view the face one needs to climb out of the stream on the left side of the creek and gain some elevation. From the large round boulder traveling gets difficult. Continue up-stream to gain access to the cache. You will have to climb over water falls and work your way through heavy brush. Be careful of poison ivy and rattlesnakes. PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS CACHE ALONE. SLIPS AND FALLS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. THIS IS NOT AN EASY HIKE. Plan on Jump Creek being the only cache you will find this particular day. Think about going to Givens Hot Springs out of Marsing, Idaho for a soak afterwards
