Geocache Description:

Cache is located DEEP in the woods on on UWF Property. Terrain is mostly flat. Cache can be located using existing trail system. Use the lat/long provided or also try 30° 33.496', W 087° 14.328'.

The cache is located off of trails on UWF property within a special location with huge oak trees. Try to use the trails - the forest is thick and impossible to pass in places. There are trails which will take you to near the cache and back.

Wear pants and hiking boots - - otherwise expect to spread your DNA on some of the local plant-life along the way. Also beware that I have seen wild hogs in this area on a number of occasions. Thankfully, they don't seem to be aggressive.

You may have some problems getting a GPS lock as you enter this area because of the thick canopy. Multipathing may also give you false coordinates while searching. I used a Trimble GPS unit and post-processed the averaged coordinates - so if you have a quality GPS unit (WAAS enabled preferred) you should have better luck getting right to it.

The cache is not in plain view from the trail, but check the spoiler if you have a hard time finding it once you are in the general area. We've also had problems with the motocross/ATV kids trashing the cache a time or two.

Best way to get there: Park at the end of Motley Court. This road is accessible from Ten Mile Road (just north of Nine Mile Road aka Hwy 90). The trails are wide and easy to follow but don't get lost in the clay pits! Keep an eye open for for other trail users - mostly off-road cyclists but you may encounter a hiker or two along the way.

Also, beware of motocross and 4-wheelers. *THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE UWF NATURE PRESERVE*. They also damage the trails and generally tear up the place. Report them to the UWF Police Dept. - - their phone number is 474-2415.

Have fun and happy geocaching!
