This cache is one of two that is located in the Sheridan Wildlife Area that is overseen by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. We received permission for this hide from the Webster branch office that oversees this area.
Another Cache hidden by the Hoxie Cub Scouts. This area is referred to as Old Sheridan Lake. This park was built by the WPA after WWI by soldiers that came back from the war that did not have any jobs. Originally a large lake was here but it silted in so dynamite was used to blow the dam! In another area, you can see what is left of the old dam. Needless to say, there is hardly any water at all in this area. The area allows public hunting so you need to be very careful hunting in the fall as many hunt deer and turkey in the area. To get to the cache, you can park at the old limestone shelter house and take a hike to the cache area. Make sure and watch out for the poison ivy and ticks as they were pretty thick when we hid the cache. You are looking for a bison tube.
