purplemartin2: History doesn't seem to be in favor anymore for caching..
I think we have evolved with our sport to caches that are
quick and easy...Not one of interest..[My opinion], i.e. drive by
caching is in...This cache doesn't meet the standard so it
is archived...Thanks to those who did the hunt for Kinzer, and
good caching in the future.....PM2

Geocache Description:


Kinzer cache
When John Kinzer arrived in Carmel, Indiana the year was 1827. He received a land deed for 160 acres signed by Andrew Jackson in 1829. Kinzer built a two story log cabin of Popular on the land he named Heritage Farm. This place is listed in the Indiana State Register of Historic Places. Several years after the first land patent, Kinzer added an additional 189 acres that resulted in a deed signed by Martin Van Buren. That year was 1834. His land holding increased through additional purchases to a sizable number of acres. Kinzer built a two and a half story house in the late 1830's and early 1840's for his family of seven children, as the log cabin became too small. This Greek Revival home had white clapboard facade, is distinguished by a formal center door with side lights and a large transom. The house as it stands today is a testament to it's construction of hand hewn timbers. The cache is in memory of Mr. Kinzer, a pioneer of our community.

The cache is a 35 mm film container. The cords will take you to a marker. From the marker go 235 feet on a bearing of 060 to find the cache. The cache has a log book but no pencil. There are a few small items for exchange.
