Geocache Description:

Point Prim Lighthouse
The cache is not too far from the driveway. There are a lot of rose bushes here.

Point Prim Lighthouse
1 of 4 in the Hills and Harbours Lighthouse Series
This is the oldest lighthouse on PEI (1846) and the only round one. Its walls are 18" thick made of brick. Years after original construction it was sheathed with wooden strapping and shingles. Height above ground: 18.3 m The Point Prim Chowder House is for sale- it was a great place for a meal, and sometimes served seaweed pie ...yum!
Replaced the cache on May 4, 2007, included some new traders, but you need your own pencil.

From the Trans Canada Highway, look for the turn-off to Point Prim between Belfast and Pinette. At the end of the road turn left toward the light.

The Hills and Harbours Lighthouse Series

This is a beautiful part of the Island that is off the beaten path. Most of the lighthouses are managed by community groups and staffed by students in the summer; modest admission charges for a chance to tour and climb the lighthouse.

There are several other caches in this area so it makes a wonderful day trip for serious collectors.
