Geocache Description:

An indistict footpath uphill from the Derwent Walk. Route sometimes muddy. Footpath can also be accessed from high Westwood

The view across the valley includes the Marley Tile factory hence the name. Tiles are not manufactured here any more even though sand is still quarried nearby. The cache is hidden in an area that was once full of coal mines, a drift used to exist in the adjacent field. The footpath from the Derwent Walk continues past the cache to the road between The Dene and High Westwood, where there was a village called Allendale Cottages. Little exists of Allendale Cottages now although there is still a water tower and a sign on the road. MOVED CACHE 100m AWAY FROM GORSE BUSHES AS THEY WERE PROVING TOO DIFFICULT. Cache contains :- Purse, perfume, photo frame, yo-yo, toys, DIY fittings and currency from 5 continents. It would be interesting to see if any of the money found its way home.
