The listed coordinates are NOT the coordinates to the cache. They will take you to the Hall of Fame Plaza at the International Headquarters of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, home of the Emmy Awards. In fact, you’ll be standing in front of the largest Emmy you’ll ever see!
Once on the Plaza, the title of the cache should be clue enough to take you to its location. You do not need to go inside any building (although if you stop inside the main entrance, they’ll be happy to give you a descriptive brochure – and you’ll see Carol Burnett & Ed Sullivan!)
You can just stay outside and enjoy the Plaza – as you look…
Say hello to some of TV’s greatest stars:
- Lucy
- Bob Hope
- Uncle Miltie
- Jackie Gleason
- Sid Caesar
- Mary Tyler Moore
- Johnny Carson
- Jack Benny
- George & Gracie
- Walter Cronkite
to name just a few…
Your greatest caching challenge will be to use all the stealth you can muster – that’s why I gave it a 2.0 difficulty. Depending on the time of week or day, you could be surrounded by geo-muggles. Be stealthy, but be cool - don’t look surreptitious!
Your greatest travel challenge could be parking – that’s why I gave it a 1.5 terrain.
Parking on the Academy grounds can be expensive:
Outdoor Lot - $.75/each 20 minutes ($4.00 max.)
Structure - $1.00/each 20 minutes ($8.00 max.)
Short-term (30 min. or one-hour) metered parking – 8 AM-6 PM on Lankershim. Free on Sunday.
One-or-two-hour metered parking 8AM-6 PM on Magnolia, Blakeslee & McCormick. Free on Sunday.
FREE parking a block or two behind the Academy on Blakeslee or Weddington.
