Big Holly, Little Cache Traditional Cache

Located in the John B. Townsend/Shoemaker Holly Picnic Area on the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County. The picnic area can be entered from both the southbound and northbound lanes of the Parkway.
Planning to travel down the southern end of the Parkway? Stop a while, stretch your legs and find this cache! The cache is a 35 mm film container with room for a log book and nothing else, so be sure to bring a pen or pencil. The picnic area can occassionally get muggly during the summer tourist season, but is generally deserted between October and April. No bushwhacking is required. This cache is kid friendly and handicapped accessible. Handicapped accessible picnic tables are located nearby. PLEASE hide the cache completely once you are through with it. Be sure to visit the centuries-old Shoemaker Holly (the "Big Holly" of the title and the reason why this cache was hidden here) on the north side of the picnic area. Back in the '50s the course of the Parkway was diverted so that this tree could be saved. Note: if you're seeking some challenging hides during your visit to Cape May County, head down to the Higbee's Beach WMA on Delaware Bay at the end of New England Rd. in Lower Twp.
