Geocache Description:

Otherwise known as Limington Rips, this is a 3-season favorite among kayakers and canoeists sharpening up on their skills. Class II to IV ratings depending on the water levels. Area Fire and Rescue use this as a training ground for water rescue situations.

This is a state-maintained rest area with picnic tables, grills and portapotties. Kids love wading and playing in the pools and sandy areas here as well as exploring the island. This place gets a 10+ on the summer muggles rating, so please take care when going to/from the cache and rehide it as good as you can. Before going please check this link and just above the first graph is “ Discharge, cubic feet per second”. If ‘most recent value’ is above 5000 cfs please WAIT for another day because the water is too high. The cache is located on an island and in the summer the runoff bed is dry, but at 3k to 4k cfs wear shorts and sandals (or hike up the pants and carry your shoes) to cross over. As always please use good judgement especially with the little ones. CITO if you like, this place can use the help most of the time!
