Political View (Devon) Traditional Cache
PurplePenguin: The time has come to archive this one. It has been a good 12 years but it is now time to wave it goodbye. I don't come to Torquay as much as I did in 2004 and so maintenance isn't so easy. There are now plenty of other caches in and around the town - there weren't many at all in 2004.

A place with wonderful views of Tor Bay and one of Maggie's favourite rocks. It is off the beaten tourist track in Torquay, on an open area of public land. The site is to the east of Meadfoot beach, along Ilsham Marine Drive. Finding the cache involves a short but hilly walk on grass. There is limited road-side parking near the cache site.
The cache is a 35 mm film canister
Contrary to expectation Thatcher Rock has no association with Margaret, its name already noted over 200 years ago. It is thought to refer to the characteristic shape of its sloping sides and a specific rocky pinnacle, still there today, that could be likened to a thatcher working on his cottage roof.
