Er en eller flere av portene åpne, får du se en flott og buldrende foss. Navnet Rykene kommer selvsagt av den rykende fossen. På andre siden av elven ser du tremassefabrikken Rygene Smith & Thommessen. I elven kan du også finne en laksetrapp.

How you experience this cache, depends on how open the dam is. Are the gates closed, you can study the construction, and the hydraulic gates in detail. Are one or more open, you will get a nice and roaring waterfall. The name Rykene means "smoking", and of course comes from the waterfall. On the other side you can see the cellulose-plant Rygene Smith & Thommesen. In the river you can also find a salmon-ladder
CAUTION!
Do not walk down to the riverbank even if the river seems dry. The gates of the dam can open with no warning. Follow the signs.
