The sixth in a series on "Lord of the Rings" theme.
There are many steps to go down to Rivendell and you have a choice to make; follow the steps and then up and over or through. If you go through you will get wet and risk injury, only the foolish or brave will go this way. I do not suggest this passage if the weather is cold or if the river is flowing quickly. The wise will avoid this path and instead use the stepping stones.
Rivendell was the beautiful kingdom of the elves where Frodo was cared for after he was stabbed at Weathertop by the Nazgul king.
