This cache is located in the Upper Wolf Trail System just north of Newport, Washington. THE CACHE HAS BEEN RELOCATED FROM ITS ORIGINAL SPOT DUE TO CHILD MUGGLE ACTIVITY IN THE AREA.
To reach the Alpha Wolf cache, begin at the Upper Wolf Trail Head. This trail system is located on the north edge of Newport. It is a little gem that many folks don’t know about. To access the trail head, proceed through Newport and follow Highway 20 out of town. Just as you begin to leave town, turn west onto Larch Street. This street is located just past the US Forest Service compound and just before you head up the hill that leads out of town. Follow Larch Street for about a block and then bear to the right onto Laurelhurst Drive. Laurelhurst Drive turns from pavement to gravel and a sign says that it is a dead end. However, stay on Laurelhurst Drive for about half a mile until you arrive at the trailhead parking lot located on the west side of the road. The trails are very wide and easy to maneuver. No motorized vehicles are allowed but mountain bikes are permitted.
The cache is located in a camo colored ammo box under a fallen tree near the center of the “Alpha Loop Trail.” Some bushwhacking is required although a well worn game trail will take you within a few feet of the cache.
This trail system gets fairly heavy use. Please note that the original location of this cache was jeopardized because of little muggles exploring the area. The current location is a bit more out of the way. However, take pain in cleverly covering the cache. Thanks...
