Geocache Description:

How The Heck Did That Get Here?! The cache is a regular ammo box. The difficulty has gone up on this one. There used to be a trail that got you within 20 yards but now there is some bushwhacking to get there. When you get to ground zero, your eyes will be continually be drawn to a certain area but don't let that fool you. The cache is near, but not there.

A neighborhood friend showed me this very unusual site about 35 years ago when I lived nearby as a teen. I don't know how many people still know about it, but there is some evidence of visitors. I don't know how long its been here or any of the history but if any cachers knows or finds out anything, drop me a line. Tree coverage was A bit of a problem but I had 3 satellites and mostly consistent readings. If you feel like going with the theme of the original cache contents, which is not required, bring trade items relating to automobiles or aviation. You'll figure out why when you get there. There is a closer parking spot in the old neighborhood (the way I originally found it) but I recommend coming at it from the following cords as it is a much nicer walk from the conference center with marked trails. There is a small trailhead (N 37 00.339 W 121 58.949) past the tennis courts that will take you on a 1.5 mile loop on the "blue trail" and bring you right back where you started. A shorter and not so pretty way is to park by the above cords. and follow your GPS in a more direct route and come back the way you came. A little shorter, but you miss out on small bridges over a clear running creek through beautiful redwoods, as well as some other future hiking possibilities. This conference center site has a great history, including once being owned by monks for a while when I was a teen. They use to chase us off the property, sometimes with baseball bats if we were riding dirt bikes. Nice monks. Rumor was they were growing something up there. In the main building they have old photos from when it started as a school, way before the monks. When you go to the main building, take a look out at the back patio to see a great view of the Bay. You might be tempted to enjoy a cool beverage after your hike. Well worth the slight side trip on the way out. Incidentally you can almost see another cache "Only One Way?" from the patio but that is not the right way.
