I have now placed 10 geocaches on the southern end of the Edison power road in the Dos Vientos section of Newbury Park. The parking and trail head for these caches is N 34 10.619 W 118 59.353. To do all 10 caches you will hike about five miles round trip. Follow the trail to the concrete drainage culvert. The path along side the culvert will take you to the Edison road.
Stay on the road until you see a smaller road on the left leads to a area near the cache. This cache is about .23 hiking miles from the previous cache.
This cache is full of bugs. If the air is damp the power lines above you will be making a buzzing sound. Please watch for snakes when you look in the rocks.
Other caches in the area are "Somewhere In Dos Vientos" (GCHVDW) (bring the photos for this one), Edison Power Cache #2 (GCJGDW), Edison Power Cache #3 (GCJGDX), Edison Power Cache #4 (GCJGDY), Edison Power Cache #5 (GCJGDZ), Edison Power Cache #6 (GCJHZE), Edison Power Cache #7 (GCJHCK), Edison Power Cache #8 GCJYHQ), Edison Power Cache #9 (GCJYHT), and Edison Power Cache #10 (GCJYHV). If you want a longer hike you can continue down the Edison road to at least ten more geocaches, including Edison Power Cache #11 and Edison Power Cache #12.
Have a good hike and enjoy the views!
