Geocache Description:

Along the Horse-shoe trail in Northern Chester County. Hike is a bit over half a mile, often uphill. Long pants and hiking boots recommended.

The Horse-shoe trail is a public hiking/horse trail. It runs from Valley Forge to the Appalachian tral on Stony Mountain. The Horseshoe trail developed in the 18th and 19th century. It runs through the charcoal forests, connecting the many furnaces and forges that made up the early Pennsylvania iron industry. The trail passes through county, state and national parks, state game lands, through private holdings, and along roads. Please stay to the trail (Yellow blaze) unless you know it is running through public lands. Nice spot to park on Prizer Rd., just off of Rt. 100 near the trail marker post (N 40*09.616, W075*40.288). Alternately, the trail also crosses Coventryville Rd. very close to French Creek Elementary School. All the normal trail concerns: poison ivy, bugs, and mud. Wear long pants and hiking boots.Cache is an Ammo Box. You should be able to get within at least 30 feet of the cache before "going in" (hint).Nearby, is an OUTSTANDING VIEW at N 40*09.696, W075*40.829. Don't miss it. It alone is worth the hike.
