Nampa's Brewery Traditional Cache
gillsans: We had a good run, and some fun times, right? But this one has fallen victim to progress. Good for Nampa (maybe), bad for cachers. This was my last Nampa cache [sniff].

Regular cache located in a historic, if rundown, location in North Nampa. PLEASE NOTE NEW COORDINATES.
In early 1905 Jacob Lockman came to Nampa to establish the Crescent Brewing Company. In January 1907 Lockman dubbed his brew “Overland” and production began. However, the 1915 Idaho State prohibition law passed forced the Crescent Brewing company to convert to manufacturing soft drinks, cider and grape juice. As soon as the 21st Amendment passed repealing prohibition Crescent began converting their plant back to the production of beer.
On April 17, 1934 thousands of people turned out to a party on Lockman’s lawn to celebrate the return of Overland beer. Thousands of people quaffed 1000 gallons of beer and were served hundreds of pounds of sandwiches and undisclosed amounts of cheese pretzels and potato chips by girls dressed in European peasant costumes.
The brewery continued operations until “shortly after World War II when members of the corporation decided to liquidate the company.” The Crescent brewery was torn down in 1966, unable to compete with the large companies.
The location of the Crescent brewery is currently a vacant lot near the railroad tracks. The foundation of the main building exists along with the brewery office building, which according to some kids hanging out in the area has since been used as a police station and a recycling center. Lockman's house is ajacent to the lot and appears to be undergoing a renovation. It just got a spiffy new sign!
Because it has been burgled a few times, I have made this a micro and a little more tricky. Cache is close to a few houses, so be descrete. Please rehide cache so you can't see it from any angle.
