Samuel Morse born in 1791 was a famous American inventor and painter. He recieved the patent for the first successful electric telegraph and invented the Morse Code. At one time, most telegraph messages were sent by tapping out a special code for each letter of the message with a telegraph key. This code became universal and is now known as Morse Code.
