Cycling the scenic, remote roads of Central Texas is one of my favorite things to do when I’m not Geocaching. Most cyclists are always on the lookout for good ride maps, and most geocachers are on the lookout for scenic places to cache. So here you go! This is my fifth in a series I’ll call Cycle Central Texas where I’ll combine my two hobbies.
Enchanting Willow City: Camp at Enchanted Rock State Park near Fredericksburg and take off on this scenic 46.2 mile ride highlighted by a turn through Willow City Loop, considered by many bike riders to be the most beautiful country road in the state. This ride is suitable for strong intermediate riders who can change a tire and carry extra water. Willow City is home to Harry’s Bar (and not much else!) so be sure to refuel before heading out on the loop.
If you MUST drive instead of ride to the cache site, please drive carefully and watch out for cyclists who may be right around the next curve. It could be ME!

Cache is a small Rubbermaid container within 15 feet of the road in the right of way. Please read the hint if you are feeling the need to go farther off the road than that! Along the way, you can also nab Willow (GC6515).
