Geocache Description:

Located along the Hamlin Garland Memorial Highway (Brown County Highway 11.) Please take some time to read the memorial; hopefully it will stimulate your curiosity about one of Brown County's lesser-known yet influential historical figures. This cache is being maintained by the family of W.E. (Gene) Aisenbrey, facilitator of the Hamlin Garland Memorial Society, in his memory and honor.

(1) The cache container is a plastic screw-cap jar, 4.5 inches in diameter and 8 inches in height. It is placed in a buried PVC pipe and "sealed" by a 15 pound field stone. As of this date, 24 May 2004, the following contents are in the screw-cap jar: Beanie Baby Sweater; Log Book with pencil; Necklace--Southwest Indian Tribe; US Flag pin; Pin from Bong Heritage Center; Hamlin Garland Society business card with medallion; America USA pin; 2001 Sacajawea Dollar; Pheasant Pin; Santa Claus Traveler; South Dakota pin; Master padlock with two keys.Gold colored Geocoin.....

(4) General directions: From Aberdeen, take County Road 10 about 9 miles north to County Road 11 (Hamlin Garland Highway) and turn east about 3.5 miles and there is the Garland Homestead site with a large boulder. Search the area and ye shall find!
