Geocache Description:

Short hike on nice nature trail at Kamiah’s Riverfront Park. Med sized Tupperware container wrapped in plastic shopping bag.

Placed this cache to honor one of Kamiah’s most venerable residents, Ethel May McMillan Crowell. Born May 22nd 1914, on the shore of the Clearwater River near the Heart of the Monster to Herbert and Annie Booth she was one of two girls. Ethel’s father Herbert owned one of the first ferry’s crossing the Clearwater at Kamiah. Later the ferry would be crushed by ice during a spring thaw and the family switched to farming. Ethel’s mother Annie would place Ethel on her back and swim the river to go into town. As a young girl Ethel drove the team and worked in the field with her Dad.Rancher, Packer, Gardner, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Practical Joker, lover of Dogs and friend to all, Ethel May can still be spotted at the lead of many local Parades on her beloved horse Juno. This cache was placed on Grandmas 90th Birthday.
Update March 2008. Grandma will be 94 years old this May, she is having a harder time getting around but is still very much alive and well.
Update Feb 2011: Sometimes due to maintenance personnel we have to move the cache a bit. We have done so again, The new cords are N 46 13.680' W116 00.953'
