Geocache Description:

5 Clemson Web Cams

OVERVIEW

  • The Coordinates listed will take you to Clemson University. They will not lead you to any one of the 5 Web Cams which are part of this Web Cam Caching adventure, that part is up to you. I do recommend visiting the Web Cam links listed below and printing a picture of the area you choose to hunt. It will be very helpful once you start walking around the campus. Also, in the encrypted hint section of this cache page I will list the coordinates I set while I was in view of the Web Cams while checking out each of the 5 locations, in case you decide to take the easy way out.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • This is the Clemson Web Cam Cache page. It will give you the opportunity to walk around the campus of Clemson University and seek out 5 different Web Cams situated at various locations. Web Cam Caches are a fun and unique twist to the sport of Geocaching.
  • Further down the page you will find the section entitled (The Web Cam Link). Simply click on the link/links and choose the area you think will be best for you. At least one Web Cam Picture must be completed, but feel free to complete them all if you are so inclined.
  • If you are unfamilar with Web Cam Caching, here is how it works.
  • First you will need 2 people to complete the cache, unless you have a Lap Top and wireless internet. Otherwise, one of you will need to be at a computer to capture the image and the other to be at the area the particular Web Cam you have chosen is focused in on. A cell phone might be useful for contact between the participants in coordinating the best picture.
  • For the person or persons wishing to be in the picture simply go to the area where you will be under the watchful eye of a Web Cam strategically placed at that location which will have you in view while your friend at the computer copies and saves the image. I found that the simple method of doing a Right Click while the mouse pointer is over the image and Left Clicking Save As works just fine for saving the images from the Cam page. However, there are other methods for saving pictures on a computer screen, so use what works best for you.
  • It's that simple!

HOW TO CLAIM CREDIT

  • According to the rules of Web Cam Caching you must post the picture captured of you at the Web Cam location within one week of logging it in.
  • You are welcome to post other pictures you make at the location in your log, but the Web Cam image must be posted to claim credit for the find.
  • Do something creative for your Cam photo, eg. Wave, hold up a sign, hold up a friend...well you get the idea.

THE WEB CAM PAGE

  • The Web Cam page will offer you several options for sizing and length of time in between image refreshings.
  • You may want to practice a time or two before actually going out to the location to be certain you can capture a Web Cam image.
  • Also, you may have to copy and paste the image to a graphical editing program to resize the image. The geocaching software will only upload pictures of a 100kb or less. This is not as complicated as it might sound. If you have MicroSoft Windows you most likely have an image editing program.

THE WEB CAM LINKS

Sample Pictures of 2 of the Five Cache-ka-teers at each one of the Cam locations can be found on the first log entry of this cache page.
