Geocache Description:

Stone Corral was an overnight stop on the Santa Fe Trail, located on the west side of the Little Arkansas River Crossing. Built sometime between 1859 and 1861, it was roughly 300 feet wide by 400 feet long, with walls 31 inches thick and eight feet high. In 1870, the owner at that time began selling stone from the wall to local settlers. Some of this stone was used to build a school house a mile south and three quarters of a mile west of the Stone Corral location. This school became known as the Stone Corral School. Several years ago the school and the land it is located on were given to the Rice County Historical Society. This cache is located on the north side of Avenue Q in Rice County, about 1 1/2 miles west of its intersection with Plum Street Road (Rice Co. 31st Road). This is a well traveled road, but once you drive up the driveway, you won't be seen from the road. You are looking for a SASO-approved camo colored ammo can. Contents of the cache are the standard logbook, cache sheet, pens and pencils. Trade items are a PEZ dispenser, two Felix the Cat vinyl lapel pins, a Hotwheels type racecar, two chain repair links, a Rich Mullins "Songs" CD, a Chase Kats button pin, a "Big Brother" button pin, a prayer book, and a refrigerator magnet clip. First To Find prize is an 8 in 1 screwdriver. YOU DON'T HAVE TO CROSS THE FENCE TO FIND THIS CACHE. Happy caching.
