Geocache Description:


The most powerful 360° view in all of Oslomarka

At 704 meters Oppkuven is one of Oslomarka's five summits above 700 meters. Its large high plateaux are pretty forested and views are limited. Oppkuven really has no peak anyway, but fortunately a new lookout tower was recently built to replace an old one which had fallen into disrepair. Remains of the old tower can be seen near the new one, along with an amazing amount of garbage for such a remote location.
Climbing the 8 meter vertical ladder to the viewing platform is recommended, but not necessary to find the cache.
The cache is an original Rubbermaid container, wrapped in a Hegdehaugen Jernvare plastic bag plus a garbage bag for extra dryness and camouflage. It is available all year. However, difficulty rating increases by a full point if the snow level exceeds 160 centimeters.
