in our disclaimer.
This is another in my series of caches placed on Washington State Department of Natural Resource public lands. Hutchinson Creek is on the west side of Blue Mountain. The cache is located a fifth of a mile from the gate along a very pleasant level logging road.
Hutchinson Creek: This stand is part of the Whatcom Forest Board trust. It is managed by DNR to perpetuate the timber resource and provide funding to support Whatcom County public services, including schools, roads and libraries. This primarily hardwood stand was harvested in 1970 and planted with douglas fir in 1972. It was pre-commercially thinned in 1983 and the first commercial thinning occurred in 2002. It is scheduled for a second commercial thinning in 2049.
