Geocache Description:

Terrain is slightly hilly and sometimes muddy, cache is located along a small hiking trail, with lots of bike, deer, and other animal tracks.

Park offers many amenities, including lots of playground equipment, soccer fields, softball/baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball court, horseshoe pits, a few pavilions, many picnic tables, grills for cooking, tons of fishing, shuffleboard, walking/jogging, a small hiking trail, a summer sand lot volleyball court, alligator egg hunting, Geocaching, and LOTS OF PARKING.

During the summer of 2003, there was an alligator that escaped from a local owner's house and made its home in the park's pond. There was a story in the local paper that the alligator was living freely, and this seemed to concern some of the locals. The poor alligator did not last very long though at its temporary home, as the alligator was found dead several days later. Not sure if any of the neighbors reported lost dogs or cats during the ordeal.

As this is our first attempt at hiding a cache, we wanted to place it in one of our favorite parks, Brookside West, which was dedicated in 1984.

This cache was placed with permission of the Ashland City Parks and Recreation Department. We would like to thank their Director for being supportive of Geocaching in the Ashland area!! Please contact the City Parks and Recreation Department before placing caches in the future.
