From Highway 176 turn onto Harmon Field Road and you will find several areas to park. Where you decide to park will determine the distance to the cache. Your walk will be on level ground from any parking area.
Harmon Field consists of 36 acres of ball fields, soccer fields, a quarter mile track, tennis courts, equestrian facilities including rings and stables, a playground, a picnic shelter and a cabin for special events. The annual Blue Ridge BBQ Festival is held here in June and cooking competitors will be vying for cash prizes and bragging rights….particularly for the North Carolina State Barbecue Championship title.
This cache is in a camouflaged container filled with small exchangeable items. Bring a pen or pencil to sign the homemade log. Look for a natural hidey hole.
Please remember that animals have a much keener sense of smell than we humans. Please do not place food, candy, gum, or any other scented items such as soaps, candles or "wipes" in the cache, as animals often mistake these items as food, and will destroy the cache container trying to get to it. Also, please hide the cache container so it is not visible, so that other geocachers may enjoy the hunt. - Thanks
