Geocache Description:

(A chance to visit a bit of caching history. The original text)

Well, I adopted this cache as the previous owner stepped down from caching.

I was attracted by the title, but after some research I have decided to change the title of this cache as it is misleading.

This IS a very old cache, but England's first was located in Berrylands, U.K. GC4E

It is no longer active, but there is a plaque you can visit.

I have done some digging and think the oldest Essex cache may have been "Cold War – No More (Essex)" (GC3C7F) but again this is not longer active. This was placed by the original CO's of this cache, which still begs the question of why this cache was named England's first!

If anyone can throw some light on this please message and I can add more info to this page.
