Crazy Alexander Multi-Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is a moderately strenuous 2 mile hike to pretty little Alexander Lake in Newark Valley, New York.
NOTE: This cache can only be done when school is not in session! We suggest Saturdays and Sundays, school holidays and summer.
(If you just HAVE to go some other time, please start near the following coordinates. You can still get to the cache, but you will miss something I thought you might like to see. N 42 13.695 W 076 12.017)
Park behind the Newark Valley schools on Whig Street, N 42 13.851, W 076 11.230, by the town tennis courts. The trail goes west up the hill from the castle and swings on the playground. It is unmarked, but the trail is worn and becomes quite wide and easy to follow. You'll be going over 2 miles on this hike, wandering through wet and dry areas, so we suggest hiking boots. There's a great picnic spot, so bring your lunch and fishing poles and enjoy some time at this peaceful area! When you pass the area of hurricane blowdown, whisper "thank you," because I thought of hiding part of the multi-cache there, but knew it would just be TOO maddening!E njoy this little town and this pretty place. We'd love to see pictures here from all seasons around Alexander Lake. Thanks!
