Geocache Description:

The Blue Lake cache is set overlooking the Mawddach estuary, Snowdonia.

Blue Lake is a lagoon in an old quarry.
In the early 1860’s slate was quarried here at the Golwern Quarry and then taken to Fairbourne for boating across the estuary to Barmouth.

Best parking is in the village of Friog
OS SH617123 Allow 20 minutes to reach the cache.

Take the ‘no through road’ opposite the telephone box.
Walk up the single track road until a foot-path sign and ladder stile is reached.
Take the rough track to reach a bridge on your right,(be extra careful here if wet) continue under the bridge to reach the the quarry level of the geocache.

After visiting the cache, continue under the near-by incline bridge to reach the next quarry level and the SAFE TO ENTER TUNNEL into Blue lake.
