On the Appalachian Trail between Bear Tree Gap and Creek Junction.
This cache is now available again (11/19/06) after the old container grew legs and walked away. Park on highway 58 East from Damascus at coords N 36 39.251 W 081 41.284. Hike South down service road to the AT, then take a left on the AT and hike until you see a great camping spot near two ponds. Follow the AT to the left of the pond (watch out for Hell_Benders' cousins hopping around) and you should be close when you are between two ponds. It is a 30 cal Ammo Can now, and not a cheap plastic canister. A great place to camp! So pack for it. You can also get here with a bit of a hike from the Virginia Creeper Trail, down the Virginia Creeper Trail from "Creeper Cache" the AT forks to the right and goes uphill to the ponds. Try this way if you like a bit of a hike. Enjoy!
