Geocache Description:

Relatively easy two-stage cache in Autumn Hill Park, Princeton. The theme of this cache is magic, jokes, tricks, and puzzles.

Welcome to the Autumn Hill branch of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!  In these deceptively serene woods near a less reputable muggle college in Princeton, Professor OgRofAKlaw has a lesson prepared for you today.

You will learn to perform a three-star feat of navigational prestidigitation, by first finding the elucidative Bus, and then the much more elusive Magic. Whilst invoking this spell, you must always avoid or overcome You-Know-Who, the Slytherins, whomping willows, blast-ended skrewts, and Hagrid's miscellaneous pets. (And, of course, the muggles.)

The first stage of the cache, the Bus, is a dilapidated school bus. (Or perhaps it was once the Knight Bus?)

Seek ye here for the prophecies and omens that will lead you to the second stage, the Magic. You should be able to reach both stages without bushwhacking or poison ivy, but watch for broken glass and rusty metal around the Bus.

To cast the spell that will take you to the Magic, you will need the following divinations from the Bus:
  • The odometer reading = ABBCxx (the last two digits are gone)
  • The number of cylinders in the engine = D. (This is the same as the number of muggle "park slugs," or "spark plugs," or whatever. Some may be broken, so look carefully.)
  • Looking from the front of the bus, the number of bolts (and bolt-like doohickeys) on the top right side of the engine = E
  • The number of bolts on EACH side of the bumper mount = F
  • The number of straps holding the gas tank = G
  • The total number of rear wheels = H
From these, the spell that will take you to the Magic is:
North H0.FG.FFF, West 7H.G7.AEB.
The Magic is in a large ammo box disguised with Type 2, Level 1 OgRoFlage (tm). It starts out with several small tricks, suitable for mages 8 and up. (Be careful if you open it in wet weather, or it may fall victim to a Soggy Spell.)

There is also a package of Fortune-Telling Fish, which are somewhat related to flobberworms. Please take one - no trade is needed.

For the first finder, the Magic Bus contains a blacksmith's puzzle as a prize. (Fair omen: Mr. Og gave up on this one after several hours. If you solve it, you pass your O.W.L. exam.)

Starter Swag for the Magic Bus.

Please re-hide the Magic better than you found it, and avoid posting any secret incantations in the logs. It'd be nice to keep the theme of magic, tricks, jokes, and puzzles, too.

Note: The wands turned out to be too large to fit in the ammo box. Instead, I've written magic words on three slips of paper. If you'd like to trade for a wand and a silk, please leave the trade item and private-mail me the magic word and a snailmail address, and I'll mail the wand to you.
