Woodside Wayside Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lee_Bo: It was fun while it lasted but as the city grows, a lot of our hiding places are being taken or are no longer safe. Both is the case here. The park is growing and the land owner next door has started grading making this location no longer safe to use.

Geocache Description:

Enjoy Simpsonville's Field of Dreams a short distance from I-385.

It is located at Woodside Park, a baseball field built on the old Woodside Mill site. This cache was originally a travel bug depot. The original owner has moved out of state and FountainB adopted it. We've decided to make it a generic cache as it seems the "travel bug only" concept was not working well. Then, the ammo can disappeared and the cache was archived for quite awhile. We considered just letting it stay archived, but the unique setting would be missed. Take a few moments to envision what it was like for the early mill workers to dream big about the majors. Because we enjoy caches that bring people to interesting places, we are happy to now resurrect it in the form of a more challenging (we hope!) micro! We'd love it to be the "next Rock Quarry Garden," but that bar is still too high. PLEASE return the cache the same way you found it. Thanks!

EDIT: Cache replaced 3/30/2012. After several DNF's, I went to check on only to find the city was in the middle of repairing/rebuilding the outfield wall and a lot of the brush had been removed. I was able to safely replace the cache and have adjusted the difficulty and terrain to match. Please replace as found, with the label facing out. Also, this cache was not placed to be an easy grab. It was placed for you to rediscover an underutilized park in Simpsonville and to think about the mill workers that were living and working here during that time and all they had was baseball to play.
