Geocache Description:

Log Only Cache -

This micro-urban is an Altoids tin containing only a logbook and a pencil. You can get there either by car or by public transportation. Co-ordinates listed are for the first step in a two-stage multi-step micro. You could drive a car to within inches of either stage . “Caching sense” will get you most of the way there, but you may want to calibrate your GPSr altimeter along the way, just for grins! For a relatively close and current barometric pressure reading, you may call Jeffco Airport ATIS (Automated Traffic Information System) at 303-466-8744. This recorded message will provide you with “altimeter” barometer pressure information available to general aviation pilots only 7 miles NW of the cache. Time stamp is “Zulu” so you must adjust from GMT to know how current the data is. You may be rewarded with a stunning front range view at Stage 1, weather permitting – many of my travel bug photos are taken here! Look across the highway at the remains of a once premiere “center for shameless commerce” and make note of the only prominent retailer's sign remaining, to obtain name 3 below. Next, l;ook a little south at the blue letters to get name #2. Finally look right to your north at the red "lodging" letters and fill in blanks Below to get names #1 NAMES-1 R_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ NAME-2 L _ _ _'_ NAME-3 J A = How many letters in the last NAME-1 entry that appear more than once? B= Number of occurrences of letter “R” in NAME-1 + number of "S"s in NAME2? C=Number of letters in NAME 3? D= Number of occurrences of the letter “H” across all names? E= Number of embedded Blanks in NAME-3? F= How many letters in NAME-3 repeat? STAGE 2 WILL BE FOUND when you travel ABC feet on compass heading C+B,D, and reduce your altitude by EF feet. Please tell me what altitude readings you get at both stages in your log, and the model of your GPSr. I have had difficulty obtaining consistent results with the barometric readings on my ETREX Summit. If your GPSr relies solely on satellites for altitude, it will be impossible to get a reading at stage 2.
