O carro é, praticamente, a única alternativa, a não ser que se tenha um espírito aventureiro e se considere a bicicleta um meio de transporte. Ao Cabo da Roca chega-se desde Sintra pela N 247, seguindo as placas em direcção a Colares. De Cascais parte a mesma estrada mas em direcção contrária. Deixando para trás a praia do Guincho rumo à Malveira da Serra, vira-se à esquerda no cruzamento e continua-se estrada-fora para o Cabo da Roca.
O que fazer:
Ver o pôr-do-sol no Cabo da Roca é uma daquelas experiências que não deixam ninguém indiferente. A luz, a imensidão do mar, os tons laranjas e rosas que tingem o céu do fim da tarde, a brisa fria que gela o nariz mesmo quando o sol se esconde por trás do horizonte... Passeios pedestres. Nesta região há vários trilhos consagrados aos caminhantes mas nem todos estão sinalizados. O melhor é obter os mapas no posto de turismo de Sintra, do Cabo da Roca ou da Ericeira e partir à aventura, sem nunca esquecer uma das regras fundamentais: não ir sozinho ou avisar alguém.
How to go:
The car is, practically, the only alternative, unless you have an adventurer spirit and consider the bicycle as a way of transportation. At Cabo da Roca you can arrive from Sintra by N 247, following the plates in direction to Colares or, from Cascais, you can take the same road but in the opposite direction, leaving at your back the Guincho beach in direction to the Malveira da Serra range, turning left in the crossing and continue by the road to Cabo da Roca.
What to do:
Seeing the sunset in Cabo da Roca is one of those experiences that don’t let a person indifferent. The skylight, the sea range, the orange and pink tonalities dieing in the sky at the afternoon, the cold breeze that freezes the nose exactly when the sunsets hides in the backwards of the horizon... pedestrian hikes. In this region it has some tracks made by the hikers but not all of them are signalled. The best is to get the maps in a Tourism Office of Sintra, Cabo da Roca or Ericeira and leave to the adventure, without forgetting one of the basic rules: not to go alone or without to inform somebody.
O farol do Cabo da Roca, mandado edificar pelo alvará de 1 de Fevereiro de 1758, entrou em funcionamento em 1772 e sofreu grandes alterações no ano de 1843. Este farol mereceu uma atenção muito especial devido à importância da sua posição marítima. Tratava-se de um farol situado no cabo mais ocidental da Europa e muito próximo de Lisboa, que possuía um porto amplo e de grande acessibilidade. No ano de 1949 foi abastecido de água da rede pública e em 1980 foi automatizado. Foi instalada uma sereia eléctrica em 1982.
Extasia-nos a paisagem natural, a ímpar vegetação rasteira (onde avulta, na Primavera, a brancura da Armeria Pseudarmeria, que só ali se dá ).
Esta cache pode ser visitada em qualquer altura, pois encontra-se numa parte remota do Cabo da Roca!
The lighthouse of the Cabo da Roca, ordered to build by official license of February 1st, 1758, started functioning in 1772 and suffered great alterations in the year of 1843. At that time, this lighthouse deserved a special attention due to importance of its maritime position - The most occidental in the Europe and very next to Lisbon, that had an ample port and of great accessibility. In the year of 1949 it started to be supplied with water from the public net and in 1980 it was automated. Natural landscape enraptures us to it, the uneven vegetation tripping (where predominates, in the Spring, the white of the Armeria Pseudarmeria, that can only be found there).
This cache can be visited at any time, because it’s situated in a remote spot of Cabo da Roca!
